♥ Resolution results

Today is the last day of the year le. Looking back at my resolution for this year, I only fulfill some of them.

ü Finish FYP in time and be able to graduate (FYP got a B and graduated in March)

ü Wish my family and friends have a healthy body and do well in their jobs and studies (My family are fine except that ah ma was hospitalized for about 1 month plus. As for my friends, I don’t know if they got a good job for the girls and for the guys, good luck for your army life)

üû Find a good job (I seriously don’t know whether this job is considered good but at least I am happy and learning many things)

üû Earn as much money as possible to share my family's burden (Haix…I only started working in Sep and used the money to lighten up my family’s burden. Haha…until now, I still haven’t give my parents money since I started working)

üû Spend more time with my family and friends (Other than working, I almost spend all my time with my family. As for friends, I have not been contacting them for a long time. I think I only went out with my friends less than five times ba for this year)

û Be a confident man and overcome my fear (I think I am not confident yet though I have been working for 4 months le)

üû Making more new friends and going out with them and not keep cooping myself at home (My new friends are probably all my colleagues bah and I have been going out with my family instead of friends)

û Save $10000 by 2008 (Still a lot far from this target)

♥ Watch The Twilight
posted by yukiong on Sunday, 28 December 2008 at 10:47 pm.
Yesterday, I went to my grandma’s house to play with Roy and I stayed there until 8. It was because my whole family was out. My parents went to watch the Fong Fei Fei’s concert and she was my father’s idol since he was young. This was the first time he went to her concert and able to see the real person. And of course, my brother went for his concert performance. I had wanted to go with Roy to watch his concert, but we did not really know how to get to the place. In fact, I did not really want to go, because I did not know how to appreciate the concert and probably, in the end, I may fall asleep during the performance.

Today, my brother and I went to watch the movie “The Twilight”. At first, I thought that the movie would be very interesting like the Harry Potter movie. And my brother told me that the story was about the vampires and it was the best selling book for the year. But in the end, the movie was a little bit dry and boring although, there were some exciting scenes towards the end of the show. And I was looking forward for those scary scenes but there were none.

Also, there was no subtitle showing on the screen which makes me hard to understand as I am not really used to the American’s speaking. But, at least, I understand about 60% of the things they were saying and understood the whole story. I heard that the movie got many seasons just like Harry Potter. Hope that next season would be much better.

♥ A blind girl's painful lesson
posted by yukiong on Saturday, 27 December 2008 at 10:33 pm.
I came across one article and I find it meaningful. So I would like to share with you guys.

Many of you will agree with me if I describe life as an odyssey – one that comprises both short trips and long haul adventures representing the various legs of our journeys.
Some people view the days of their lives in chronological order while others see life as a series of episode vignettes.

Then there are those people who see their professional pit stops as benchmarks to measure their career progression.

Whichever way you choose to classify them, every experience contributes something significant to our lives.

Regardless of whether these incidents are positive or negative, enjoyable or painful, fleeting or prolonged, it is important to remember what we have gone through and how we perceived ourselves.

We can lead fruitful lives only by appreciating these precious milestones.

I know people who went from rags to riches, only to forget where they had come from.

For instance, there are some who boast of being self made millionaires, failing to acknowledge those who have been instrumental to their success.

I firmly believe that no man is an island.

Unless you are a hermit living in a remote mountain somewhere in Timbuktu, the people around you, and your relationships with them, make you who you are.

There is a story about a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She detested everyone except her loving boyfriend, who was always there for her.

One day, she turned to him and said: “If only I could see the world, I will marry you.”

It wasn’t long before someone donated a pair of eyes to her.

When the bandages came off, she was finally able to see everyone, including her boyfriend.

He asked her: “Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”

The girl looked at him and saw that he was blind, just like she was before.

She had not expected that and the thought of looking at his closed eyelids for the rest of her life totally turned her off.

Her boyfriend left in tears. Days later, he wrote her a note saying: “Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.”

This story illustrates how selfish – knowingly or otherwise – we can sometimes be.

It shows that we can easily forget where we came from. We often take our friends and loved ones for granted, even though they’ve helped us through the most trying times.

You can take the story as either a reality check or a gentle reminder, but always remember: It’s important to embrace a selfless outlook, and to never forget what it was like before.

Only then can we appreciate the existing relationships that we have.

Merry Christmas!!!

Yesterday, my boss treated us KFC and pizza during lunchtime so we did not need to go out to buy. Haha…luckily he treated us. If not, I will have to go on diet for the next few days. It was because I realized that I almost used up all my money any will soon become broke le. Hope that I will get my pay soon. Also, we were told to go off earlier and I did not need to stay back for overtime. I was so happy because it has been long time since I went back at my normal hours.

Today, I went for a hair cut. Then in the afternoon, my mother, bro and I went to Outram Park. My brother bought a new watch…I think it’s pretty cool. Then we went to OG. I bought some stationery for office use. We had intended to go to Bugis after that, but my mother was not feeling well, so we went home.

Anyway, my brother will be having a concert performance on this Saturday. And I am looking for someone to go with me but I keep cannot find.

Today, Roy asked me to watch movie but I promised my mother to accompany her to go to Bugis Junction. So I rejected and asked my brother to go with him. As the movie they watched was in the afternoon, so my mother, brother and I went to Queensway first. We wanted to see if there was any new clothes arrived. Although the new clothes were put up there in the shop, I just could not find the clothes that I like. In the end, I only bought a jean from that shop and my brother bought most of his clothes from there. Then I wanted to go to other shops to see and finally, I took a like on one shirt and bought it. Then we went back home.

After we reached home, my mother suddenly said that she did not want to go out already. And so I ended up staying at home and in the end, my brother and he went to watch the movie “Bolt”.

Also, I realized that I have been spending a lot of money on this month. I think I nearly spent about 1 thousand on the items. I guess that I confirm cannot save $10000 for this year.

♥ Went to cash studio
posted by yukiong on Saturday, 20 December 2008 at 10:27 pm.
Today, I went with my brother and my two cousins to cash studio. I had agreed to treat them as I promised. But they still have to fork out a little money each. Haha…you could say that I am stingy…only a few dollars. My brother they all had wanted to meet me at 3.30 at Orchard MRT control station. But it was because I was asked to finish my work first before I could get off from my work. And my brother had already booked the room from 4 to 7. So in the end, I went to meet them at 4++ and we went together to K-studio. I had never been there before and I think the environment is quite comfortable. So we started to enjoy ourselves by singing songs one after another and everyone got their turns to sing.

At one time, the whole room suddenly blacked out. At first, we thought WJ had accidentally tripped off the wire. But it wasn’t. All the other rooms also were facing the same situation. After a while, the room went back to normal and we started our ‘live’ performance. My cousins and my brother kept saying that I did not sing but I really sang. Maybe my voice just did not come out loud. But never mind, at least we enjoyed ourselves.

Hope that next time, we will organize more outings as it is already so hard for us to meet together especially, each of us has our stuffs to do.

♥ Watching the Cape No.7
posted by yukiong on Sunday, 14 December 2008 at 11:22 pm.
Today, my mother, my brother and I went to watch the movie “Cape No.7” with the free tickets. I seen the news reporting that the movie was Taiwan’s best selling movie this year and I was curious so many people went to watch the movie. We went to Tiong Bahru to watch the movie. The show was indeed a nice movie and it was worth it. The show was showing how the local band in the Taiwan has slowly form their band and play music for their performance. I was attracted by the two songs that the male actor sang. It was too high that makes me feel like to get high and sing the songs. Also, I was deeply touched by a Japanese man, who was already passed away, wrote the letters to his wife when he was boarding the ship. In his letters, he mentioned that in not to make his wife unhappy, he decided to go away. Of course, in the movie itself, there were some funny scenes.

After watching the movie, my mother went to buy her CNY clothes and then we went home.

This week, I was busy as usual at my work. Occasionally, I will make some mistakes in my work because there were too many tasks for me to that I hardly had any time to rest. Thanks to my colleagues, who noticed the mistakes and told me about the mistakes. I guessed that I must try to do things carefully in future.

Yesterday, I went to BCA to get the data. At first, I thought that I would need to stay at there for at least 3 hours because last time, I waited at there before finish downloading. But I only waited for 5 minutes and finished downloading the data and to think that, I went all the way there and going back for about 1 hour++.

Today, I had wanted to watch movie with my cousin and my brother after my work. It was because my yi yi was given many free movie tickets when she bought things. And so she gave us all of them. My brother and I had wanted to watch “Bolt”, “Body of lies” but either I cannot make it as the ticket could only be used before five, or my cousin cannot meet the requirement as he has not reached the required age. And so my brother told me that there was no movie and so we agreed to go to Vivo City with my mother. Just now, my cousin told me that actually we could see the “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” but it was too late. Haix…my brother did not tell me about the movie as he already watched the movie.

And so my mother, my brother and I went to Vivo City. This was the first I went there for shopping because the last few times going there was just passed by only. The shopping centre was so huge and crowded. I had wanted to go there to buy CNY clothes but I just could not find suitable clothes. After that, I kept persuaded my mother to go out of the shopping centre to see the scenery.

♥ My relatives came to Singapore
posted by yukiong on Monday, 8 December 2008 at 11:28 pm.
On Wednesday, my relatives came to Singapore. I have never seen most of them for quite long, almost 4 years le since last time I went back to Brunei. Especially for my cousins, they have grown much and one of my biao di even taller than me le. I remember one of my cousins was about a few months old when I saw her and she is now already 5 years old le. Wow…so fast. And of course, my three yi yi, their looks never change much.

When they came here to sleep, the room was packed will all the luggage that it was hard for us to walk around. I had hardly mixed with for the first few days because I did not know what to talk to them and I felt like so strange with them. Also, I had to go to work and did not have any chance to mix with them. Fortunately, I got off day on weekends and today is a public holiday that I did not need to sleep earlier that I had the chance to chat with them.

Also, my yi yi brought their home-made pastries to us and they were so yummy. One of my yi yi also made the “mu shu kueh” at our house. I heard from my mother said that two of my cousins is going to marry next year. Good luck to them!!!

Today, my relatives have taken a morning flight to Brunei. I do not know when we will be able to meet again as they went back this time. Also, my mother and I went to Queensway Shopping Centre to buy clothes for Chinese New Year. I had wanted to buy two clothes but there wasn’t any nice clothes so in the end, I only bought one T-shirt.

♥ Work

This week was a busy week for me because I have taken over Aunt Dolly’s work. On Monday, Aunt Dolly told me that she will be the last day she worked and she told me that if I any questions to ask her, so I asked her about the things I was not sure.

On Tuesday, as this was my first time doing her work all by me, I sometimes would feel helpless. I did not what should be done first and what should I do next. It was because I have so many tasks to do and handle and all these things have made me feel so stressed and feel like out of breath. Thanks to my fellow colleagues and the boss’ family, who have been guiding me and taught me how to do the work whenever I feel lost. Now, after working for one week, I am now getting the hang of it and I realized that it was not difficult at all. I am glad that the boss has given me a chance to prove me that I am actually can do the work just like normal people. And this gives me a little confidence and I believe that I can do more challenging tasks in future.

Last Sunday, my mother and I went to Funan IT mall to buy the ink for the printer. After that, we went to City Hall to shop around because my mother wanted to see if there was any thing to shop, then she would be able to know if she wanted to bring my relatives there. It has been a long time that I went there and so many shops have changed. After that, I suggested that we should go to Suntec City as my mother has never been there before but my mother said that it was too far and so we dropped the idea of going there.

Also, the sofa that I bought was delivered to my house on Tuesday. I feel that having such a big sofa have taken up almost half of the space. It was so comfortable that I feel like sleeping on the sofa.
