♥ Interview
posted by yukiong on Friday, 22 August 2008 at 3:35 pm.
On Monday, I went to the Micrographics Company that was in Commonwealth for the interview. Francis, the staff from the Bizlink Centre, waited for me and we went to the company. Then the boss from the company interviewed me and at the same time, he asked me about my medical condition and Francis told him. Then he went on asking for my qualifications and asked me if I liked computer or not. Of course, I said yes to him loh although I don’t like the jobs that has to do with programming.

It was because I find that the programming languages that I learnt are quite basic and I hate programming because it makes my brain quite tired as I have to keep thinking about how to solve or write. After that, the boss said that in future, I would work for his son and not him. And he said that he would try me out for about 3 days first and I would be working on the 3rd Sept as a programmer. And the salary is $550 per month. And he asked me to bring my FYP to his son and my O’ level result the next day.

And so the next day, I went to the company. The boss’s wife told me that their son had urgent matter to do and I waited for about 45 min there. Then the boss’s wife saw me that I had nothing to do and took me to the other side of the company where the workers were working. She asked me to learn from the workers there and there were about 5 workers. One of the staff was typing the IC no. from the invoice and checking if the IC no. was tally with the IC no. that was in the computer. Then one of the staff asked me to type in some data and at the same time, I was needed to print out the data. It was quite an easy and relaxing job to me. At that moment, I had one thought in my mind. That was to ask the boss if I could do this type of job.

But I did not have the courage to ask because I had promised to do the programmer job. So after working for one hour, I was asked to go back to the company. The boss’s son saw my project and I explained to him how the project worked. Then he said ok and I was to work on the 3rd Sept as his family need to go overseas next week. I did not know if I was able to do the project I was asked to do because it seemed more complicated than I expected it to be. And I only learnt the basic programming and not the advanced type. But I guessed I have to wait until that day. If I really cannot do, I might just quit.

Let’s hope that things will go smoothly for me at that time.

♥ My 21st birthday
posted by yukiong on at 2:35 pm.
Today is my 21st birthday. Daniel is the first one to wish me followed by Jovin and Wei Jian. Yesterday, I was quite surprised and happy when Daniel chatted with me online, saying that he bought one present for me. Thanks man, Daniel!!!

I woke up quite early in this morning because my father wanted to take me to the Immigrant Centre there for oath-taking. I heard from my mother that the officer there was quite stern at that time when she got the Singapore citizenship. That was why I was quite worried. So we went there and we waited for about 1 hour before it was my turn. So we went inside to the room and the staff asked me to read the pledge. And so it took me quite fast to read the pledge and we went to Bugis for a pray.

Then we went back and at about 4pm, my mother and my brother went to bring the cake from the shop at the downstairs. My mother actually had told the baker to make a key shaped cake. It was because my parents said that normally when people reach 21, they will make this type of cake. I also don’t know why. Then my family and my two little nephews celebrated my birthday at home. My parents also bought me a necklace that has a key around it.

Wah...so big...Key-shaped cake

Say cheese!!!

♥ Singapore earned a silver medal
posted by yukiong on Thursday, 21 August 2008 at 3:12 pm.

On Sunday, the gold medal game for the women team table tennis between Singapore and China was too thrilling and enjoyable. Although the Singaporean team felt that they were unable to beat the world strongest China team, the players continued to play the game seriously and fight them until the end of the game. Although it was very tough for Singaporean team to beat the China team, their fighting spirit was shown throughout the whole game. And of course the result is: China vs Singapore – 3-0. But at least, the Singapore has earned a silver medal and I am happy to see the achievement. I hope that in the remaining few days, the Singapore team would be able to win another medal.
Singapore GO GO GO!!!

♥ Unexpected day
posted by yukiong on Saturday, 16 August 2008 at 3:38 pm.
Wednesday was an unexpected day for me. It was because Ying Qing messaged me that he got lobang in RP and asked me to send my resume to them. Also on the same day, the staff from the Bizlink Centre had helped to find two jobs. I remember last time when my father and I went to the Bizlink Centre for help was about three months ago. I thought that the staff had forgotten to help me to find jobs since he offered me one job last time and he has not contacted me. The two jobs that he offered, the pay was quite low. One is being the scanner operator; the pay is about $500/mth. The other is being the IT staff or cashier, the pay is about $750/mth.

Yesterday, I went to the Sunbyrd Corporation which is at the Bugis there for the interview. I had hard time finding the place and I reached there a half hour earlier. When I entered the shop, the place is like those shops who rented the computer for people to use. I was to fill up the form and I was surprised to see the staff from the Bizlink Centre to be there. At the same time, there was also another guy who came to interview. During the interview, the boss explained to me all the stuff that I need to know. He also told me that I was not suitable to be the cashier and told me that I could do the IT stuff. But currently, there was no vacancy for IT staff and in future, if they need any IT staff, he would contact me. So I guessed that it was unsuccessful interview. The other interview was at the next Monday.

Also on yesterday, the staff from RP called me that there was a temp logistics job. But after that, another staff from RP called me what job would I want and asked me my qualifications. But after that, there was no reply from them.

♥ Singapore historic moments in Beijing Olympics 2008
posted by yukiong on Friday, 15 August 2008 at 3:38 pm.
Today is an historical moment for the Singapore. It is because the women team table tennis has smoothly proceeded to the final round which would be competing with the strongest country, China. This is the first time that Singapore wins the first medal in Olympics for the past 48 years since last time; Singapore won a silver medal in 1960.

Today, the game for semi final round between Korea and Singapore was very intense. And Singaporean player has put up a great performance. At first, when I watched the first game between the two countries, I was quite relaxed. And Singapore won the first game. When it came to the second game, I was quite emotional and very tense as the points for the two countries are very close for many times. I could see that the Korean player was playing defensive and it was difficult for Singaporean player to win the game. And so Korea won the second and the fourth game. And the Singapore won the third game. By the time when it came to the fifth game, the players was quite worn out and very stressed. At one point of the moment, the judge interrupted the game by introduced a rule, saying that if the either player won the games by one point when the point comes to 13 first, that mean the player won. And so the Korean player made a mistake in the final game and Singapore won the game. To be honest, I have never thought that such a game could make me feel so intense and so exciting. Also, I believe it was the longest game ever if I am not wrong…3 hrs++.

Lastly, I hope that Singapore will win over the China on Sunday and win the gold medal.

♥ Singapore 43rd birthday
posted by yukiong on Sunday, 10 August 2008 at 2:26 pm.
Today, is the 43th birthday for Singapore. This is the first time that the national day is organized at the Marina Bay. At first, I thought that the programs are just like the past National day programs which are always the same. But after seeing the show, I realized that it is quite unique as there are some performers performed on the water. And the programs are quite different and fresh from the programs in the past. And the national day song for this year is quite meaningful and nice song.

Anyways, Happy birthday to Singapore.

♥ Beijing Olympics games 2008

Yesterday was the Beijing Olympics opening day. China was the first Asia Chinese country that was given the honour to organize such a grand Olympics. Before the day Beijing Olympics starts, many China people were queuing up to buy the tickets so that they can watch the live games and at the same time, they wanted to keep the memory of the China being the first Chinese country that organizes the Olympics.

Yesterday, when I watched the Beijing Olympics start, many sportsmen coming from all over the world were holding their country flag as the host announced their individual country. I realized that there were many countries in which I don’t know yet. Personally, I seldom watch the sports show as the tv does not telecast those sport games. But I like to watch the football, badminton and the ping pong matches. And this time, Singapore has sent out so many sportsmen to participate for this Olympics games. So I believe that Singapore will put up a great performance and wish that Singapore will win as many medals as possible.

I guess that for this coming two weeks, I will be spending most of the time watching the Olympics show.

Singapore, GO GO GO!!!

♥ Life

This week has been a boring week for me. I had hardly found any suitable job whether it is online or from the newspaper nowadays. I am still waiting for my father to take me to the community center to find the minister to help me to find jobs. Haix…my father has been kind of busy and he said that we can only look for the minister at night.

Also, this week, my little nephew, Yi Yi, was staying at our home for 3 days. It was because my cousin and his family were sick so they left him at our house. By leaving Yi Yi at our house for the whole day, it can be said that there are advantages and disadvantages. Although I don’t know why kids would become more active at night than during the day, such that they make a lot of noise and running all around while we are watching tv, it is quite enjoyable to see kids playing around that the house become more lively.
