♥ No NS for mi
posted by yukiong on Sunday, 25 November 2007 at 4:01 am.
Haix... getting sick again... been feeling so itchy on my throat... but this week i am quite happy over two thing and that is my thumb is getting better and no NS for me.

this wednesday, i went to the hospital for appoitment. as usual, the physical therapy doctor checked my thumb, whether if i can bend my thumb to the desired angle that she wants. she then took a scotch tape and bend my thumb to the angle and asked me to bend for 15 min. at first, it was quite pain but later, i was not feeling so pain anymore. after finished the exercise, she measured and found that i can bend a little downward than last time. she said that i must continue to bend my thumb more so that it will recover.

this thursday, i went for the army medical check up. my father took me there and this was the second time, i went there. when we reached there, there were soldiers guarding at there and checking the visitors' belongings, asking for ICs. then we went inside seeing that there was no much people there. i was told to take a photo of me at there and then we went to submit our documents. at there, there were many rooms to check up. First, i went to check up for hearing, then eyesight, taking an X-ray, seeing the dentist and taking a blood test. when it came to the blood test, the nurse need to take three tube of blood for me. Perhaps that i was very nervous when the nurse was taking a blood test for mi, the nurse kept could only get a small volume of blood which was only for one tube. After trying for quite a long time, the nurse went to look for the superior and the superior told me that i need not go to do NS. At that time, i was quite shocked and happy that i have been exempted from NS. Anyway, i also have so medical history like asthma, little physically disability plus my my thumb fractured. i was also happy that i can earn a lot of money rather than do NS which only got $400 pay. when my family and my friends knew about it, they said that "Wah so good!!!" but at the same time, i also feel so disappointed why i can't be like normal guys. but then i need to find jobs earlier than my friends. anyway, i am quite lucky. YEAH!!!

on thurday, it was also the day that PSLE results came out. my cousin got the highest PSLE result in Queenstown Primary School. i was quite shocked when i knew the result. he got an aggregate of 275 overall. but i was quite happy for him and congragulate him for his excellent result. he was also interviewed by the Channel New Asia. Congragulations!!!

HaHa, that's all about it.

♥ Going to Fish Leong's autograph session
posted by yukiong on Friday, 23 November 2007 at 4:07 am.

hi, i have been writing the blog for these few days... cos i have many things to write. since i came to singapore 10 years ago when i was 10, i became to know that singaporeans like to chase their favourite idols whenever they come to singapore for advertising their new albums. i always think that they have too many time and money to go for their concert. as for mi, i not the type who seldom go for their concert or any autograph sessiop. but i do make exception sometimes ... haha.
Last Saturday, i went with my brother to Fish leong's autograph session. both of us like to listen to her songs as her songs are soothing and pleasant. my brother has bought her new album "cong bai" with his own money and her new songs are quite nice. we went to Clarke Quay to see our idol. as we were going there for the first time, we did not really know the way.

when we reached there, there were quite a lot of people waiting at there and were holding her new albums. some people even stood at the different levels to see their idol. and so my brother queued up for the autograph session and i went to the second level to see. it was really hard to get a good view for mi. then, my secondary school friend, Cheng Boon, called me saying that he was here too. then i looked at the opposite direction and saw that there were three other of my frien ds. i had wanted to say hi to them but i hestitated. i think that even if i say hi to them, i would not have topic to talk with them as we have not met each other for about 9 months. if i go there, i would probably feel so extra and uncomfortable.
soon, the yes933 DJ said that our favourite idol was coming to the stage. when fish leong came out singing on the stage, the fans applaused and welcomed her. some fans even raised up their boards which has her name on them and the people were singing with her. the whole atmosphere was like a dreamland and we were attracted by her beautiful voice.
as my brother wanted to take photos of her, i went down to give him my handphone. at the same time, i saw my friends on the first level and went to say hi. they asked mi about my hand and then there was no much conversation between us. i suddenly felt so apart from them because we were quite close to each other during the secondary school days and we had many topics to talk.

Fish Leong's autograph session

after Fish Leong finished singing her third songs, the fans queued up for the autograph. and my friends left. after fish leong finished signing on my brother's album, my brother took photos of her. then we went outside and asked my brother to take pictures of me as i think that the scenery there was beautiful.
Although i think that chasing idols was quite tiring, it worth that u will see ur favourite idol and shake their hands. it is quite exciting and high. And so that is all about it.

♥ Regularly appointment n unexpected trouble
posted by yukiong on Tuesday, 20 November 2007 at 4:17 pm.
Nowadays, I have been so busy with my school project plus I need to go back regularly to the hospital for appointment.

Since I came back from the hospital, I never went to school for 2 days. At first, I had not intending to skip classes as this was my last semester but the doctor had given me 2 weeks of medical leave so I never went to school for only two days.

During the first day I went back, I had a lot of inconvenience as my right hand was painful and I could not do anything. Simple things like making a cup of coffee, washing the dishes, carrying things and many other works are too difficult tasks for me. even when taking a bath, my mother had to wrap the plastic around my hand to cover my hands from being wet. I also had hard time wearing the clothes by myself. I was also doing some simple hand exercise for every 2 hours and it hurts so much for the first time. I was also tired for the first few days after the operation and I slept a lot. I felt so helpless using one hand only to do things but luckily it is my right hand which was injured because I always do things using the left hand.

On thursday, my two primary school friends, Kelvin and Daniel visited me. although we have not met for quite a few years and have only contacted just recently with each other, but we are quite close to each othter. we also have many topics to talk about n i feel happy to have such friends since i have not many closer friends.

Kelvin, Daniel n mi

As I was too bored staying at home and I did not want to miss any lesson, I decided to go to school on Friday. At that time, I needed to wake up earlier than before as I will need to ext that time, I needed to wake up earlier than before as I needed to do hand exercise. My mother also woke up, helping me to make a cup of coffee for me and wrapped the plastic around my hand because I always took a bath before going to school. And when I went school, I needed to wear the splint. I found that it was inconvenient and scared that they will bump into me especially when I took mrt where the place was too crowded.

When I entered the class, my classmate asked me what has happened to me and asked me to take care. When the business finance facilitator came in, she saw my hand and when I told about the operation, she was quite scared to see the wire that was in my thumb. When I was using the laptop, it is inconvenient that I could only use one hand and I typed very slowly. At one time, she asked me “why your hand keeps saying good?” as my right thumb was in a face up position. Then I laughed. Although her words may seems to others that she was making fun of me, I never take it to heart as I believe that she was trying to make the class laugh.

When it was lunch time, I had lunch with my wushu friends. I told them what actually happened to me and they were too shocked that how a ball could fracture my thumb. And one of my best friends saw that, he quickly asked me who the one kicked so hard and injured my thumb. At first, I kept saying that I could not say the name out as I did not want to cause trouble for the one who injured my hand. But after several times of forcing me to say, I finally said out the name. haha, cannot tell you all… then my friend asked me if I intended to get the person to pay for my medical fees but I said nope. I knew that he meant me well but I didn’t want to cause any trouble. Anyway, I also can claim the medical fees from the school. And so we went back to individual classes. After school, I went straight home and did not go wushu.

The next day, as I usually went to the cousin’s home to play X-box with him, but since my thumb have not recovered, so I did not go.

For the next three weeks, I have been doing the hand exercise whether at home or in school. Every week, I must go to the physical therapy to see the doctor once. After 2 weeks from the operation date, I went to the clinic to remove the bandage and cut the wire. Initially, I thought it was pain because my mother said that the nurse will pull the wire out but luckily, the nurse cut the wire away. Then I went to see the physical therapy doctor, she said that I must try to move the thumb. When I move my thumb, I simply have no strength to bend and it hurt. I also went to see the surgery doctor for review. He said that I must continue to put on the splint until I have recovered.

my injured thumb

Then it came to 1 week holiday. I found that it was too short as I need to go back to school to do FYP. I also needed to revise my modules to prepare for UT. At one night during the holiday, my school facilitator who is in-charge of wushu IG, he msn me and asked me who the one injured my thumb and I told him as he said that it was too serious. At that time, I was too shocked that now the matter had already spread to the facilitator’s ear and afraid that the matter will blow out.

After 1 week of holiday, school reopens. As we have lunch time normally at the canteen, the in-charge facilitator asked me to go over to his table. He told me that someone has actually demand the medical fees from the one who injured me on my behalf and his parents were too angry with the incident and he asked me whether I knew about it. At that time, I knew that the matter has already blown up. and of course, I said no. although I did say that I was going to claim the medical fees from school, I never thought of demanding the medical fees from him. The facilitator asked me whether I knew the person who spread the rumour. At first, I said no as I was afraid that the matter would become more serious and I did not want to harm my friend, but that friend said nevermind and asked me to say it was him. and he said that it must be someone who has heard his conversation and demanded the medical fees. And I told the facilitator. But since then, I did not see my that friend for a week. I do not know whether he was angry with me or what. But I really do not want to lose him as a friend because of that incident.

Last Wednesday, I went to see the physical therapy doctor. She told me that I must try to bend my thumb as possible. But every time I try to bend my thumb, I had no strength to bend and so I have to use force using another hand to bend my thumb down. And she said that I was not needed to wear the splint anymore except when I am sleeping. It was so painful every time I bend my thumb and I guess that I need to wait for at least 6 months to recover.

Now my thumb can at least do some simple task already and my thumb can bend little bit le. And the appearance of the wound has almost gone off. very sian… that I need to do hand exercise every two hours.

It happened that I have 2 UTs last week and I needed to answer the questions and typed using one hand on the laptop. Although I typed very slowly, I almost answered all the questions and I found that the papers were ok to me.

Haha… type so much at one time and hopefully my thumb will recover soon.

♥ How my right thumb fractured and my hospitalisation
posted by yukiong on Monday, 12 November 2007 at 3:49 pm.
It has been a long time since i wrote the last blog le. three weeks ago, an unfortunate incident has occurred to mi, my right thumb was hit by the ball when playing soccer during wushu training and fractured.

at that time, when the wushu members were playing the soccer and i happened to be the goalkeeper. this is the first time i being the goalkeeper in the soccer match... and i have indeed saved many goals for my team. i feel very excited and honoured when my team player and the coach praised me for guarding the goal pole well. and so i kept feeling the ball kept hitting at me and i kept defending and prevent the ball for going into the goal pole. and there was one time when the ball was in front of me, and one opponent charged to the ball and hit the ball so powerful that it hit my right thumb and at that time, it hurt so much and i thought that it will be alright after a while. then after the wushu training, i went back home to rest and i told my parents about it. my mother asked me to go to a guy who is at the market that will help people to message the pain the next day. my mother also scolded me for being injured again after hurting my back last year and recovered le.

so the next day in the morning, i woke up early and wanted to go for messaging but my mother said that he was not there on that day. then until the evening time, my thumb was getting painer and painer and i don't dare to move my injured thumb. at about 10 plus, my mother saw my thumb and thought that my thumb bones might be fractured and she quickly asked my father to take mi to the hospital in case my thumbs really fractured.

when i reached the hospital, the doctor attended to my injury and asked me how the incident caused my injury. then he asked mi to go for X-ray to see whether there was any fracture in my thumb. then my father took the X-ray to another doctor but we waited more than 1 hour before the doctor came. after that, my father passed the X-ray envelope to the doctor and he saw the X-ray image. he immediately told us that my bone was fractured. at that time, i was stunned as i thought that how could a ball could make such a great impact on my thumbs. i blamed myself and had a lot of thoughts in my mind like "why i always made my parents so worried that they need to pay for my medical fees despite our living condition". and i was taken to a room when they helped mi to limit my hand's movement and bandaged my thumb.

then we were taken to the class C ward and to see my hospital bed. at that time, it was very late and most of the patients have gone into sleep. then, one male nurse came to ask me for some basic medical info and one police officer asked mi about some routine questions. after that, we were told to wait for the main doctor and we waited until 2am. the doctor told us that i must do an operation on the next morning because it was serious. And he said that the operation involved minor risk that a screw will be put inside my thumb so as to maintain the structure of the bone and to support my thumb and my thumb wont be as flexible as before. After that, my father agreed for the operation. Then he went home and left me alone staying in the hospital.

At first, I was not comfortable sleeping on the bed and had not adapted to the environment because the light was not switched off. The light had disturbed my sleep and occasionally there were noises made by the patients who called the nurse for help. I also had many worries such as “will the operation be risky?” , “will it affect my life in future such as finding jobs because that will means that I will have little choices of jobs?” and “after doing the operation, will my hand hurt and when can I recover?”. I really regretted that I should not save the ball and fractured my thumb. It was not worth it. Slowly, I began to sleep and occasionally, the nurse would come to take the temperature for me and measure the blood pressure for mi. at one point of time, a person woke mi up and said that the operation will be at 2 pm.

When it came to 8 am, there were many noises and I was woken up. to my surprise, most of the patients were old and middle-aged men. And they were eating breakfast and I was wondering why the nurse did not give me the breakfast to eat. Then I realized that I need to go for the operation in the afternoon and that is why I could not eat. Then I was told to take a bath. After that, I went back to my bed and had nothing to do but to look around. Then my parents visited mi and brought mi some magazines and my handphone. After that, they went home and my aunt’s family came. I also received one sms from my cousin who wished me well. Then I was alone again.

At there I have made friends with a 70 year old man who have diabetes. Beside my bed, there was a patient who had fractured his arm and kept shouting for help and made many noises. He was asking the nurse to take off the bandage for him, but the nurse said cannot and he began to scold vulgar words, throwing the pillows and kept untie his bandage. I could see that his arm was in pain and wanting to take off the bandage. I can see that the nurses there were patient, caring and helpful because no matter how busy they were, they did not complain anything and I feel that they were noble.

At about 12 noon, my mother and little brother visited mi. as the time was getting nearer, I began to feel scared and I kept telling myself to calm down. At about 1 plus, I was told to get changed and go to the operation room. When I entered the room, the nurse told mi to relax and I lied on the bed. There were many doctors and nurses waiting for the operation. Soon, I was being injected an antiseptic and was in unconscious state.

At about 4 plus, I woke up and realized that my right hand was being bandaged. And finally the operation was over. At that time, I did not have idea whether my hand hurt or not. I was taken to my bed and rest there and my mother and little brother asking whether I was fine. After a while, there were food given to mi. after long hours of starving, I finally could eat. The hospital food was not nice to eat as they were bland and I could understand my grandma’s feeling that she always asked us to buy outside food for her during her hospitalization. After eating dinner, my mother and brother went home and I slept as I was tired and giddy. When sleeping, I was told by the nurse to put my right hand up and I think that it must be done so to support my arm. at about 8 pm, my uncle’s family visited mi for a short while and left.

When it came to the next morning, as my hands had no strength and had difficulty in eating breakfast, so I took a long time to eat. And the nurse also helped mi to take bath. After taking the bath, a nurse told mi that I can be discharged that day and I was told to go for physical therapy. At about 10, a nurse took me to the physical therapy for exercise. At there, I saw patients who have fractured different parts of hand doing exercise. A nurse then unwind my bandage and cleaned my wound and bandaged my thumb again. Then the doctor came and helped to make a splint for and asked mi to put on the splint until my thumbs have recovered. I was also told to exercise my hand at home. Then I went back to my bed and my father came. We waited for the doctor to come to prepare for the discharge. And then we went home and said goodbye to the hospital.

ok, that is all the things that i have encountered when i was in hospital. hope that i will be recover soon.
