Finally, I have started working on Wednesday. At first, I thought that I was needed to do programming as part of my work. But, it seemed that I was wrong. When I went to work first day, I was feeling a little bit nervous and worried. When I reached there, I looked for the young boss because I thought that he was the one who gave me work to do. Instead, he took me to another place which is also the same company. When we reached there, I was told to wait for someone to give me work to do. Inside the room, I could see there were about 7 to 8 people. Some of them had some disabilities also and they were working as good as normal person. Each of them had different tasks to do. Some do bar-coding scanning, data entry, making newspapers and many others. So Serene, who is the boss’s daughter, asked me to see her how she did the scanning using computer. The whole process was particularly boring. First, I was needed to put the film onto the scanner operator and to let the machine run so that the newspapers that were scanned were captured inside the computer. U know what, the newspaper was actually from 1929…so long ago. Then I was supposed to do the scanning twice for each film as the first time, was to see if the film went smoothly. Then the second time, I was supposed to write down the images that were scanned on which particular date and sorted it out. It was because at the later part, I was supposed to transfer the data into another computer and finally converted them into a pdf file. It was quite a boring and tiring process because just for the scanning one film, it took more than 3 hrs. Then if some data was missing when converting into the pdf file, I need to go back to do the film scanning again because the company expected 100% accuracy. Just like today, I nearly went mad because I kept cannot find the missing data for more than 4 hrs plus the machine kept hanging. Now I was very tired le, also back pain. Imagine that I need to stare at the PC for the whole day. During lunchtime, I went out with uncle, auntie Dolly and Bin Hao. The lunch was about 30 minutes so we have to eat very fast. Also we did not chat very much and I realized that the colleagues at there do not speak much just like me. That is why I feel weird, not getting used to such a quiet environment. I will hang on!!!
